Easter in Richmond on Thames: Things to do, places to go… and children to keep busy!

April 16, 2025

The Easter Holidays are well and truly upon us, and if you are parents – like we are – your kitchen table probably looks like an arts and crafts studio already, as your eager children get stuck into cutting egg shapes out of old card to decorate with pipe cleaners, crepe paper and lashings of PVA glue (grandma will love it…).

But if you’re thinking that, however much you’re enjoying your time as a modern Tony Hart or Neil Buchanan (depending on whether your childhood allegiance was to either BBC’s Hartbeat or ITV’s Art Attack), you might just fancy a break, here is our Bartlett and Partners guide for things to do in Richmond upon Thames this Easter.

Richmond Rugby Club Easter Camp

With Rugby so firmly a part of our local story, we thought what better place to start, than with Richmond Rugby Club’s Easter Camp as an option.

This one is for boys and girls of all abilities, from new starters to seasoned rugby players – and it is also open for non-club members!

All coaches are RFU Level 2 Qualified and DBS checked.

Under 5s to Under 10s from 14th – 16th April, Under 11s to Under 16s on 16th and 17th April.

£30 per day per child (taking them off your hands from 9am to 3pm, with lunch included)

See Richmond Rugby Club website for more information here.

The Reading Fairy

The Reading Fairy is perfect entertainment for those children aged 1-6 years old (although they happily do entertain older siblings too). An Isleworth based group, they travel around the area and will be at:

  • Holy Trinity Church, Twickenham Green, on Wednesday 23rd April
  • ETNA Community Centre, Twickenham, on Thursday 24th April
  • Whitton Youth Zone, Whitton on Friday 25th April

Prices are £10.50 - £13.00 – and for more information visit the Happity website.

The Museum of Marvellous Things

Step aside, boring old museums – this is actually a theatre show… an immersive, magical puppet show adventure designed especially for 3–8 year olds (and the grown-ups who still believe in a bit of wonder).

Running on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th April at The Exchange in Twickenham, ‘The Museum of Marvellous Things’ invites children into a world where anything is possible. Expect puppetry, original music, and oodles of imagination. Think: less dusty artefacts, more dancing stars and moonlight circus tricks.

It’s one of those rare moments where “educational” and “they’ll actually sit still and be quiet for an hour” happily collide.

Booking recommended – tickets £12.50 per adult, £10.00 per child, or £40.00 for a family of four. Book here.

Richmond Theatre Guided Tour

If your kids are old enough to walk without launching into interpretive floor performances every few steps (or of course, if you fancy a solo mission), the Richmond Theatre Guided Tour is a brilliant way to explore behind the scenes of one of the UK’s most beautiful theatres.

These tours run on selected dates during the holidays and give you access to the historic stage, dressing rooms, and hidden corners of this Grade II listed gem. Budding actors (and nosy parents) will love the peek into how the magic happens.

Visit the ATG Tickets website to book by clicking here.

Paint and Prosecco at The Anglers (for the adults!)

Now – and hear us out – after the week you’ve had, you’ve earned something just for you. We bring you: Paint and Prosecco at The Anglers in Teddington.

No, this one is not for the kids!

It’s a relaxed, creative evening just for you grown ups, with step-by-step painting guidance and plenty of bubbles to keep you cheerful – whether your canvas turns out Botticelli or more… well, blob chic.

This is on Wednesday 16th April – so tag a fellow exhausted parent, book a table, and remind yourself what it feels like to be out, sipping prosecco, whilst at the same time using glitter *for fun*, not it was embedded into that cushion you’ve been leaning on.

Whether your children are full of beans, or you are simply full of hot cross buns and in need of a diversion tactic, there’s plenty going on in Richmond upon Thames this Easter to keep everyone happy. From rugby to sing-alongs to puppet shows – and even the odd parent’s night out – if you are a parent in Richmond, Twickenham or Teddington, may your Easter week be filled with just the right amount of chaos and calm.
