You’re thinking of selling your home and you need to choose an estate agent. It’s a big decision. A bad estate agent makes selling a nightmare. But an open, accessible, honest estate agent who puts you first is a dream come true.

So, you’re bound to have plenty of questions before you even think about choosing an agent. How much will they charge? Any hidden costs? What about a valuation?
But beyond the obvious, there’s more to know – much more. Asking the right questions of your estate agent early on saves you problems in the long run. Let’s run through the questions you may not have thought of.
Continuity is key, here. You might meet a fantastic valuer who promises you the world and then you never see them again. You might find yourself dealing with Saturday assistants or junior members of staff who either don’t know how to sell your home or don’t care. At Bartlett & Partners we do it differently from the beginning. We’ll meet you in person, at your convenience and for as long as you need, to discuss your property and plans for moving. We’ll recommend a price, marketing strategy and how we can get the very best sale. More than that, though: every viewing will be conducted by one or both of the directors, who you will have personally met.
It’s important to establish who you’ll be dealing with beyond valuations and viewings. Selling your home can be complicated at the best of times, and it’s easy to feel you’re losing control. This is particularly true if too many people get involved. Too many people means too many conflicting interests and more risk of things going wrong. We believe that an intimate, personal service based on great communication is the key to a smooth selling process. At Bartlett & Partners our Directors, Darren and Kristian, will guide you through the whole process, from start to finish. No-one else gets involved – because no-one else needs to.
A successful sale for you relies on great communication. Estate agents who ignore your calls and emails mean only one thing: stress. Regular, clear communication removes that stress. We’ll stay in touch with you via Whatsapp where you’ll be able to reach us whenever you want - even outside office hours, so all parties get information at the same time. Whether you’re based in the UK or abroad, we’re at the end of the phone. No mixed messages. Nothing gets lost in translation.
Data protection has never been more important, and dealing with an estate agent raises understandable questions surrounding your privacy. Will an estate agent share my details? Is there a security risk? You’re right to ask the question and your estate agent should be completely clear with you. At Bartlett & Partners we operate like a trusted private banker or advisor – with complete discretion. None of your personal details will be shared – ever.
