You may well be well acquainted with this peaceful part of Twickenham, or have never even heard of it - let us give you some insight behind the place, the name, and what it's like to live here!

Just like neighbouring Hampton Hill, and Marble Hill, there is no genuine hill - merely a slight elevation of the terrain. So - the hill is unremarkable, but strawberries are known to have been grown in Twickenham and Isleworth around the time that the area was established.
The area of Strawberry Hill was founded around Strawberry Hill House. An iconic Gothic revival villa - still standing and in use today. The house in its current form was imagined and built by Horace Walpole, son of England's first Prime Minister, in the mid 18th century. Prior to Walpole's death, he had increased the estate to encapsulate 46 surrounding acres. The house traded hands many times over the years to familiar local names - the Waldegraves, the Orfords and Alexander Pope to name a few. By the late 19th century, the estate was partially sold off for housing, commencing with Waldegrave Park. In 1925, the house was gifted to the Catholic Education Council, allowing them to re-house St. Marys College from Brook Green. St. Marys College still occupy the site today as part of the University of Surrey.
Strawberry Hill represents an ideal location for family life for those looking for something more peaceful than its neighbouring counterparts. Unlike Twickenham, Teddington or Richmond - Strawberry Hill doesn't have a major thoroughfare, lined with business of all shapes and sizes. It does have it's own station with links to Waterloo, and a parade of conveniences, but is more akin to a rural village. The area is mostly tree lined streets, bordered by the River Thames and Strawberry Hill Golf course. Don't fear, it's not a jump into the unknown as you still benefit from excellent transport links and numerous outstanding schools that the borough is famous for.
Property-wise, there is something for everyone. From starter homes on Southfield Gardens, to mansion flats in Thames Eyot, to grand detached houses on Walpole Gardens or Waldegrave park. There is something to suit all budgets (within reason of course!) - all of the benefits of living within the area means that Richmond is consistently one of the five most expensive London Boroughs.
